ANMP:Ad hoc Network Management Protocol

In ANMP, nodes organize themselves into clusters (we have implemented two algorithms for clustering - one uses GPS information while the other uses graph topology information). Each cluster then selects a cluster head who manages that cluster. All the cluster heads are in turn managed by a network manager. The benefit of using cluster heads is that these nodes can summarize information from their cluster prior to sending it to the manager. This reduces the amount of message traffic. As nodes move about, the clusters need to be reformed (or maintained). We have implemented algorithms to do this as well.

The information collected includes battery power levels (shown as dials in the GUI), link quality, reliability of information (considers sensors deployed in the field), security clearance level of nodes, etc. Our protocol is fully compatible with SNMPv3 and extends the MIB database to the mobile environment. Finally, ANMP implements a military-style security mechanism.
